§ 56. Mr. Porrittasked the Minister of Health how many councils prohibit the use of gas in council houses to the cost of construction of which the State has contributed?
§ Mr. ElliotI am unaware of any local authorities who prohibit the use of gas in their houses and in this connection I would draw attention to the terms of Section 27 of the Gas Undertakings Act, 1934, which makes it unlawful for a local authority to insert in any instrument in connection with the sale or letting of houses owned by them a provision restricting the right of the owner or occupier to take a supply of gas.
