§ 72. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Mooreasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the fact that London omnibus men have no superannuation scheme in operation; and whether, in view of the public service these men perform, he will make representations to the London Passenger Transport Board to formulate a contributory scheme for this purpose?
§ Mr. BurginThe Board inform me that they have no contributory superannuation scheme for their weekly paid omnibus men and that they could not contemplate introducing such a scheme for their wages staff at this time as they are without the necessary financial resources. The Board give certain ex gratia pensions and grants to weekly paid staff.
§ Sir T. MooreIs my right hon. Friend aware that these are the only men employed in a semi-public organisation who have no superannuation scheme, and will he press that point upon the Board and encourage them to take the steps which I have outlined?
