HC Deb 20 July 1938 vol 338 c2185
38. Mr. Hamilton Kerr

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Colonial Marketing Board, in addition to exploring the possibility of increasing the consumption of Colonial goods in this country, will be enabled to consider the means of increasing exports of cotton goods and other manufactures from this country to the Colonial Empire?

Mr. M. MacDonald

The Colonial Empire Marketing Board was set up for the purpose of promoting the better marketing of Colonial products, and I do not think it is the appropriate body to deal with the export trade of this country, which is the function of the Board of Trade and Department of Overseas Trade.
