HC Deb 20 July 1938 vol 338 cc2193-4
56. Mr. Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Air, what is the established strength of the 10 balloon-barrage squadrons in No. 30 group for the defence of London; and what are the age-limits for the men required to man these squadrons?

Sir K. Wood

The establishment of each of the balloon squadrons is 13 officers and 602 airmen, of whom one officer and 64 airmen are regular personnel. The age limits of the Auxiliary Air Force personnel are as follow: officers between 32 and 50 years of age, and airmen between 38 and 50 years of age. In certain cases airmen below 38 are accepted.
