HC Deb 18 July 1938 vol 338 cc1805-6
12. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Prime Minister upon what date the subject of the asylum granted to the Mufti in Syria last formed the subject of representations to, or conversations with, the French Government?

Mr. Butler

There have been very recent conversations on this subject.

Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

Does not the hon. Gentleman consider that the present state of affairs in Palestine, involving such heavy loss of life and heavy expenditure on troops and ship movements, would justify the reopening of this matter de novo by the British Government?

Mr. Butler

That question has already been under discussion.
