asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether authority has yet been given to the Inland Revenue Department to pay arrears of overtime pay due to the staff in the office of collectors of taxes under the award of the Civil Service Arbitration Tribunal; and whether, in view of the award being dated 12th May, 1938, he will state the reason for the delay in the issue of Treasury authority for the payment?

Yes, Sir. The delay was due to the fact that difficulties arose with regard to the application of the award to certain classes of officers.
