HC Deb 12 July 1938 vol 338 c1105
39. Mr. Higgs

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been directed to the fact that third-party claims against motorists are becoming much more costly; and will he investigate the matter with the object of regulating the amount of compensation payable?

Captain Hudson

I am aware of the tendency to which my hon. Friend refers. The question, however, of any amendment of the law designed to limit compensation for accidents raises wide issues which would extend beyond the scope of my Department.

Mr. Neil Maclean

Is the hon. and gallant Gentleman trying to arrange for something to be done to limit the number of accidents?
