HC Deb 12 July 1938 vol 338 cc1088-9
12. Mr. Lawson

asked the Secretary of State for War the annual cost of the upkeep of each of the Household Cavalry regiments; and whether, in view of modem war conditions, consideration will be given to the advisability of disbanding one of these regiments as being superfluous and transferring officers and other ranks to other units?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The approximate annual effective cost of each of the two regiments is £86,000, exclusive of accommodation. Neither of these regiments is superfluous.
