HC Deb 11 July 1938 vol 338 c924
71. Mr. G. Macdonald

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education, the number of schools in the Lancashire County Council area where liquid milk is provided; and whether there are any schools where it is not being provided?

Mr. Grimston (Vice-Chamberlain of the Household)

I have been asked to reply. According to the returns for 31st March, 1938, liquid milk is being provided in 834 out of 878 public elementary school departments in the Lancashire County Council area. In 22 of the remaining 44 departments dried milk is provided. Many of the departments not providing liquid milk are very small and 97.6 per cent. of the public elementary school children in the area are in schools where such provision is made. Only 0.6 per cent. of the children are in schools where neither liquid nor dried milk is provided.
