asked the Home Secretary what is the total number of professional, technical, clerical and industrial manual workers employed in the engineers section of the receivers department of the Metropolitan police district; what is the total annual salaries and wages of this staff; and what are the number and salaries and wages costs of that part of the staff engaged solely in connection with the motor fleet of the department?

The total number of persons of the classes mentioned employed in the engineers department is 575; the annual amount of their salaries and wages is £107,000; the corresponding figures for that part of the staff employed solely in connection with the motor fleet are 335 and £60,000.
