54. Mr. Thurtle

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether any decision has yet been reached regarding the proposal to erect a Church of England senior school at Tilford, Surrey; and whether due consideration has been given to the protest against this proposal signed by a number of ratepayers and parents?

Mr. Lindsay

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The Board have decided to hold a public inquiry into the proposal.

Mr. Lindsay

Yes, Sir. After careful consideration of the appeal against it, the Board have decided in favour of the proposed Church of England senior school.

Is the hon. Member aware that this decision will arouse great indignation in this part of Surrey?

I can assure the hon. Member that my Noble Friend looked very carefully into all the facts of the case.
