HC Deb 07 July 1938 vol 338 c593
91. Mr. Ammon

asked the Prime Minister whether any arrangements have been made to meet the hardships accruing to the Assyrian refugees accommodated in the Khabur river settlement arising out of the drought experienced this year?

The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Butler)

The hon. Member is mistaken in thinking that there has been a prolonged drought on the Khabur this year. On the contrary, I am glad to say that the reports from the Assyrian Trustee Board show that the harvest has been very good. The necessity for any special arrangements does not, therefore, arise.
