§ 24. Mr. Cassellsasked the Lord Advocate whether he is aware that no provision is made in the Scottish sheriff court rules for obtaining production of corporeal effects; and is he prepared to recommend to the Rules Council that steps be taken whereby such effects may be recovered by parties in the same manner as documents?
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandMy right hon. Friend has received no representations on this subject, which would seem to fall within the province of the Sheriff Court Rules Council. I suggest that the hon. Member should address any representations he may wish to make on the subject to the Rules Council, either direct or through the legal societies.
§ Mr. CassellsDo I understand the Solicitor-General to suggest that the Government have no responsibility at all in this connection?
§ The Solicitor-General for ScotlandI think that in the first place it is a matter for the Rules Council, and that it would be well that they should take it into consideration.
