HC Deb 04 July 1938 vol 338 cc38-41
Mr. Attlee

May I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer two questions about business; first, whether he can state how far it is proposed to go to-night in the event of the Motion to suspend the 11 o'Clock Rule being carried, and, secondly, when it is intended that there shall be a Debate on the report of the Committee of Privileges?

Sir J. Simon

We propose to suspend the 11 o'Clock Rule in order to obtain the business up to and including the fifth Order on the Paper and the Committee stage of the Anglo-Turkish Agreement (Money) Resolution.

As regards the second question put by the Leader of the Opposition the report of the Committee of Privileges must, of course, be brought before the House, and time will be given to consider it. I am not, however, in a position to make arrangements to-day, and perhaps the question might be repeated later.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[Sir J. Simon.]

The House divided: Ayes. 216; Noes, 104.
