HC Deb 22 February 1938 vol 332 c164
12. Mr. Liddall

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he proposes to accept the recent offer of the gift of a private collection of clothing and costumes with a view to placing them in some public building either in Lancashire, Yorkshire, or London, in order that they may be available for the instruction of the textile industry?

The President of the Board of Trade (Mr. Oliver Stanley)

My attention has been drawn to a letter in the Press in which an offer of this kind was made. I fear, however, that I have no building or funds at my disposal to enable the collection to be housed and displayed.
