HC Deb 22 February 1938 vol 332 c159
3. Mr. Gallacher

asked the Secretary for Mines the profits of the Fife Coal Company, Limited, Coltness Iron and Coal Company, Limited, Bairds and Dalmellington, and Lothians Coal Company for the years 1933, 1934 and 1937, with the deficit registered by the method of ascertainments?

Captain Crookshank

As the hon. Member is aware, the ascertainment results for Scotland are, by agreement between the owners and the workmen employed, grouped as one district for the purposes of the statistical summaries which are published quarterly by my Department. The information asked for is not available.

Mr. Gallacher

Is it not the case that these companies from various areas in Scotland have been making profits during the whole period mentioned?
