asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has refused the request of the representatives of Italian firms in London for extensive short-term credits with Government guarantee in this country for the purpose of importing British coal and other goods into Italy?

No such request has been received, and accordingly the question does not arise.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether any consideration has been given to the granting of loans to Italy under the Export Credits Scheme?
