HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 c30
59. Lieut.-Colonel Moore-Brabazon

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that the Southampton Borough Council have resolved not to ratify the agreement which has been proposed on behalf of the Post Office for the installation by the Postmaster-General of wires and apparatus in the borough for an experimental wireless relay service, he will say what course he intends to follow in the circumstances?

Major Tryon

The question is under consideration. I have not yet been informed why the council have withdrawn their invitation. The Post Office are actively engaged in making technical and scientific researches into various systems of broadcasting by wire for the information of the Government and the House before a decision has to be reached about the future of the relay services.
