HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 cc25-6
46. Captain Plugge

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the international situation, he will consider the desirability of expediting rearmament in this country?

The Prime Minister

The question of the scale and rate of progress of our armaments has recently been the subject of exhaustive investigation. The policy of the Government will be stated during the Debates on Defence.

Mr. Alexander

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that, owing to the continued ineptitude of the Government's foreign policy, increasing armaments are bringing no increase in security?

Commander Sir Archibald Southby

Is the Prime Minister satisfied that he will have the support of hon. and right hon. Gentlemen opposite?
