HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 cc23-4
48. Viscount Elmley

asked the Minister of Agriculture to what extent his Department will financially assist the East Norfolk Catchment Board to make good the damage caused by flooding between Winterton and Waxham, Norfolk?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I presume that my Noble Friend refers to works that may be undertaken by the catchment board to close the gap made in the sea dune barrier by the storm of 12th February. If the catchment board submit an application under Section 55 of the Land Drainage Act, 1930, for a grant in respect of such works, it will receive prompt and sympathetic consideration.

Viscount Elmley

Will the right hon. Gentleman ensure that any steps which are taken shall be of permanent value?

Mr. Morrison

Yes, Sir, I will.
