HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 cc5-6
9. Mr. Arthur Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, following the joint resolution issued on 14th April, 1935, by the British, French, and Italian Governments recommending the conclusion of a Central European agreement to include the Danubian countries, he can now state whether any negotiations are taking place with regard to such an agreement?

Sir J. Simon

No negotiations are at present taking place for the conclusion of a Central European agreement of the nature envisaged in the joint resolution of 14th April, 1935.

Mr. Henderson

Is it not a fact that conversations have been taking place between the Governments of Czechoslovakia and Austria with a view to securing an economic agreement?

Sir J. Simon

I should like notice of that question.
