HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 cc29-30
56. Sir Walter Smiles

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can give any information as to the Morse interference with the British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts in Arabic?

Major Tryon

Some interference caused by Morse signals transmitted on wavelengths adjacent to those used for the British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts in Arabic has been observed from time to time at measuring stations in this country. This interference is not, however, of a serious character, and I understand that reports from the Near East indicate that technical reception of the broadcasts is satisfactory in the countries for which they are intended.

Sir W. Smiles

Has my right hon. and gallant Friend any information as to the nationality of the station from which this interference comes?

Major Tryon

The source of interference has not been traced.
