HC Deb 16 February 1938 vol 331 c1884
65. Sir G. Fox

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air the average cost of training a pilot, and the average cost of a bombing aeroplane and a fighting aeroplane, respectively?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

No up-to-date figure is available of the average cost of training a pilot and it has not been considered that an investigation into the present cost would be of value in view of the abnormal circumstances attendant on the rapid expansion of the Royal Air Force. As regards the last part of the question, I regret that it would not be in the public interest to give the information.
