HC Deb 16 February 1938 vol 331 c1864
20. Captain Plugge

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what is the annual cost of the recent award of increased charge-pay to chargemen in His Majesty's Naval establishments?

Mr. Cooper

As my hon. and gallant Friend will be aware, the award allows a choice between two alternative scales of charge pay. As this choice has not yet been made by all the chargemen concerned, and as there are in any case certain factors in the calculation which are not constant, an accurate estimate of the cost of applying the award is not possible. Making, however, such assumptions as seem justifiable, the figure is roughly estimated at £10,000 annually.

Captain Plugge

To what extent would this increase of pay enhance the pension?

Mr. Cooper

I should like notice of that question.
