§ 74. Mr. Grant-Ferrisasked the Minister of Transport whether he proposes to avail himself of the powers given to him by the Road Traffic Act, 1937, to extend the period of currency of carriers' licences?
§ Mr. BurginYes, Sir. I referred this question to the Transport Advisory Council, and am about to publish their report, which recommends an increase of the periods to five years for "A" and "C" licences and to two years for "B" licences, provided that the observance of the conditions of licences be upheld by the strongest possible measures, including, after fair warning, suspension and revocation of licences. I have accepted their recommendations, and shall make the necessary regulations with as little delay as possible.
§ Mr. Robert GibsonWill these extensions apply to current licences, or only after new applications?
§ Mr. BurginI think that perhaps the hon. and learned Member might wait until I have made the regulations.
