HC Deb 16 February 1938 vol 331 c1880
53. Sir A. Knox

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he can give an estimate of the probable number of airmen who will leave the service annually in future years?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The number of airmen who may normally be expected to leave the Royal Air Force annually on completion of the expansion programme is approximately 6,500. During the next few years, due to the demands made by the present programme, the numbers are expected to be substantially less than this, but no exact estimate is possible.
