HC Deb 03 February 1938 vol 331 c354
12. Sir Charles Edwards

asked the Minister of Labour the names of the urban authorities in Monmouthshire who have received grants from the Special Areas Fund, and the amount of each grant?

Mr. E. Brown

As the reply includes a tabular statement I will, if I may, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following is the reply:

The following is a list of the urban authorities in Monmouthshire to whom grants out of the Special Areas Fund have been promised to 31st January, 1938. The actual amount of grant will in each case be dependent on the finally ascertained cost of the works involved. The amounts as shown are calculated on the estimated cost of the works.

£
Abercarn 8,891
Abertillery 13,387
Bedwas and Machen 947
Bedwellty 686
Cwmbran 17,432
Ebbw Vale 6,890
Mynyddislwyn 9,001
Nantyglo and Blaina 20,359

In addition, grants estimated at £283,000 have been promised to certain sewerage and water boards of which urban districts are constituent authorities, and the urban authorities in Monmouthshire will also benefit by grants to the Monmouthshire County Council in respect of services for which the county authority is responsible.
