§ Mr. AttleeMay I ask the Prime Minister to state the business for next week, and also for what purpose he proposes to move the suspension of the 11 o'clock Rule?
§ The Prime MinisterMonday, Tuesday and Thursday: Further consideration of the Coal Bill in Committee.
Wednesday: Consideration of Private Members' Motions.
Friday: Consideration of Private Members' Bills.
On any day, if there is time, other Orders will be taken.
With regard to the suspension of the 11 o'Clock Rule, we hope to make good progress with the Coal Bill in Committee to-day, but we do not propose that the House shall sit late.
§ Mr. AttleeWill the Prime Minister bear in mind that the Opposition will be asking for time at an early date for a discussion of the Trinidad Report and the position in Trinidad revealed thereby?
§ The Prime MinisterYes, Sir. I have noted that, but, of course, there would be an occasion for a discussion of the kind on the Colonial Office Vote.
§ Mr. AttleeDoes not the right hon. Gentleman realise that that is a long time to wait, and that this is a matter of very considerable importance upon which there is great public interest?
§ Mr. MaxtonWould it be possible for the Prime Minister, when announcing the week's business on the Thursday, to tell the House upon how many evenings it was proposed to suspend the 11 o'Clock Rule, so that Members might make arrangements accordingly?
§ The Prime MinisterI am unable to do that. It is impossible to say on a Monday what we may be required to do later in the week.
§ Mr. GallacherBefore we proceed further with the discussion of the Coal Bill, may we have a guarantee that it will not be withdrawn in view of the demonstrations that have been made?
§
Motion made, and Question put,
That the Proceedings on the Coal Bill be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House).—[The Prime Minister.]
