The VICE-CHAMBERLAIN OF THE HOUSEHOLD (Mr. GRIMSTON) reported His Majesty's Answer to, as followeth: I have received your Address praying that I will give directions that a Monument be erected within the precincts of the Palace of Westminster to the memory of the late Right Honourable the Earl of Oxford and Asquith, with an inscription expressive of the high sense entertained by the House of Commons of the eminent services rendered by him to the Country and Empire in Parliament, and in great Offices of State, and assuring Me that you will make good the expenses attending the same. I will gladly give directions for carrying into effect your proposal to do honour to the memory of that illustrious statesman and devoted servant of his Country.
