HC Deb 15 December 1938 vol 342 cc2163-4
44. Mr. E. J. Williams

asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider the suggestion of the Welsh Federation of the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds Friendly and Approved Society, a copy of which has been sent to him, as to the need of legislative action to amend the National Health Insurance Act to incorporate dental benefit as a statutory benefit; and whether it is proposed to introduce legislation for the purpose?

Mr. Elliot

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 24th November to the hon. Member for Consett (Mr. David Adams).

Mr. T. Johnston

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the system of providing differential benefits for the same compulsory insured person is creating great discontent in the whole field of national health insurance?

Mr. Elliot

The right hon. Gentleman knows that the question of pooling surpluses would cause great apprehension on the part of some societies.
