§ 15. Mr. Dayasked the Minister of Labour whether he can give particulars when his Department proposes opening a new Employment Exchange to meet the needs of the borough of Southwark; and what has caused the present delay?
§ Mr. E. BrownThere has been difficulty in adjusting the Department's requirements to the limitations of the site proposed for the new building. This difficulty has now been surmounted and the site has been acquired. I cannot yet say when the building will be ready for occupation.
§ Mr. DayCan the Minister say when the work will be commenced, as the plans were prepared two years and a half ago?
§ Mr. BrownThat cannot be so. The plans have now been approved, but I cannot go into details at the moment.
§ Mr. DayDid not the Minister state in this House, in reply to a question of mine two years and a half ago, that the plans were in preparation?
