HC Deb 12 December 1938 vol 342 cc1589-90
39 and 40. Mr. Liddall

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department (1) what steps he is taking to arrange for United Kingdom steel manufacturers to meet the demand in Argentina for cheap qualities of all-steel one-piece knives, as indicated in his Report No. 705;

(2) what action he has taken with regard to his Report No. 705 that considerable sales are made in the Argentine of non-British sports goods owing to the practice of non-British manufacturers consigning sports goods to be sold by local sports professionals rather than by local business houses; and will he consult with United Kingdom manufacturers with a view to investigating this method of sale in Argentina?

Mr. R. S. Hudson

My Department is already in communication with the trade associations concerned in regard to the matters to which my hon. Friend refers.
