(by Private Notice) asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what consideration has recently been given to the position of Rosyth Dockyard, and what conclusions have been reached?

Mr. Shakespeare

After careful consideration, it has been decided that the other Services the figures show clearly that that policy has not obtained in the past?

Mr. Shakespeare

Well, I am not responsible for the past. I am responsible for the present and future.

Mr. Attlee

Has there been any inquiry into what becomes of the officers who have attended the Imperial Staff College, seeing that this Government have been in power for a very long time, and that therefore the hon. Gentleman must take responsibility for the action of his predecessors?

Mr. Shakespeare

The position is that 80 per cent. of the officers who passed through the College are now on the active list.
