HC Deb 06 December 1938 vol 342 c993
62. Colonel Ropner

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement as to the purchases of foreign barley by the Government during the recent crisis?

Mr. Stanley

No foreign barley has been purchased by the Government, and the statement which has appeared to the effect that the Government is about to sell barley which it purchased in the crisis is without foundation.
