§ 8. Sir John Mellorasked the Prime Minister the number of British officers and constables of the Egyptian police whose employment has been or will be terminated during the year 1938 in consequence of the provisions of the Anglo-Egyptian treaty; and whether he is in a position to indicate the prospect of their re-employment in British Colonial or other services?
§ Mr. ButlerNine British officers and 35 British constables of the Egyptian City Police are due to retire under the 1938 Elimination Scheme. Six of the officers and 16 of the constables have already secured fresh employment. Most of the men due to leave this year who have not yet found fresh employment are still serving with the police or have not returned to the United Kingdom. If and when they return to this country, every effort will be made to find employment for them in Government posts or elsewhere.
