HC Deb 26 April 1938 vol 335 c25
54. Mr. Viant

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is in a position to state the results of the regional form of Post Office organisation which was set up experimentally in 1936 in Scotland and North-East England following the recommendations of the Bridgeman Committee; and whether he proposes to extend the regional organisation to the rest of the country?

Major Tryon

The experiment to which the hon. Member refers has now been proceeding for upwards of two years. The results have been satisfactory in all respects, and I have now decided to adopt the regional organisation permanently in London, Scotland and North-East England and to extend it also to the rest of the country.
