HC Deb 06 April 1938 vol 334 c351
64. Colonel Nathan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the amounts of accrued but unpaid interest on national savings certificates at the end of the revenue year 1937–38?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

The amount is provisionally estimated at £131,000,000.

Colonel Nathan

Can the Financial Secretary say where this sum appears in the national accounts?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

We can discuss this matter at a later date on the accounts and the hon. and gallant Member can ascertain the information then. We cannot deal with the matter by question and answer.

Colonel Nathan

Is the Financial Secretary aware that I am not asking for a discussion of the matter, but where I can find the information in the national accounts. Will he say where it is to be found?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

Will the hon. and gallant Member put that question on the Order Paper?
