asked the Prime Minister what diplomatic and consular representation this country will maintain in that part of Germany which formerly constituted the Republic of Austria?

As His Majesty's Ambassador informed the German Government on 2nd April, His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom have decided to withdraw the Legation in Vienna, and to replace it, on or about 15th April, by a Consulate-General. It is intended to retain the Consulate at Innsbruck for the present.

What happens to the Ambassador who is displaced in such circumstances?
