HC Deb 28 October 1937 vol 328 cc237-8
35. Sir T. Moore

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the nutrition value of fish, its cheapness, and the need for encouraging the industry, he will consider introducing this commodity as part of prison diet?

Sir S. Hoare

I will consider this suggestion.

Mr. Thurtle

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that no steps are taken to enforce Scottish herring on English consumers?

Mr. Gallacher

Will the right hon. Gentleman make certain that the fish is sent fresh to the prisons? They used to serve it in Scotland on Fridays and it was the colour of the rainbow.
