HC Deb 28 October 1937 vol 328 c225
Mr. Graham White

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can now state the decision of His Majesty's Government with regard to the recommendation of the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee that the salary limit for unemployment insurance for non-manual workers should be raised from £250 to £,400?

4. Mr. Ridley

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is now in a position to make a definite statement as to the intentions of the Government in connection with unemployment insurance for black-coated workers?

Mr. E. Brown

No, Sir.

Mr. White

Having regard to the fact that from the testimony of the right hon. Gentleman's own predecessor this matter has been under active consideration for the last two years, will the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Government intend to make a decision and, if so, how soon?

Mr. Brown

Not, I think, in this Session.

Mr. A. V. Alexander

Has the right hon. Gentleman any desire to get into touch with the Minister of Health in this matter?
