HC Deb 28 October 1937 vol 328 cc235-6
31. Mr. R. C. Morrison

asked the Home Secretary whether he has now reached a decision with regard to the effect of a recent legal judgment upon firemen called upon to perform ambulance and other duties; and whether their position under the Fire Brigade Pensions Act, 1925, is affected?

Sir S. Hoare

I am advised that the effect of the judgment referred to depends upon the conditions of service in every individual fire brigade. A conference with representatives of the local authorities and of the fire service was held in July when the matter was adjourned to allow certain of the local authorities' representatives time for further consideration of some of the points which had been raised. I hope to be able to arrange a further conference at an early date to pursue the matter.
