HC Deb 30 November 1937 vol 329 c1867
32. Mr. Batey

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he can issue a report of the working in each district of the selling schemes from the date of the amended schemes which came into operation on 1st August, 1936, until 1st August, 1937?

Captain Crookshank

No, Sir. I think the report published in June last (Cmd. 5474) gives all the information I can usefully place before Parliament, until early next year, when, as was announced by my right hon. and gallant Friend on 25th November, I propose to present a further report.

Mr. Batey

Seeing that the new selling schemes came into force on 1st August, 1936, is it not essential that we should have a report to 1st August, 1937, so that we may be able to judge of the working of the schemes?

Captain Crookshank

I do not think there is any particular merit about a particular date. I gave a report to this House containing all the information which I had, and I promised another report within a few months.

Mr. H. G. Williams

Why have coal prices gone up so much more than food prices?
