HC Deb 30 November 1937 vol 329 c1885
62. Mr. Harvey

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether any decision has yet been reached as to extending the hours of opening of the reading room of the British Museum, so as to permit of it being available to readers after 6 p.m.?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

The trustees of the British Museum have given their most careful and sympathetic consideration to the question of extending the hours of opening of the reading room. The financial and administrative objections to such extension are serious. I understand, however, that a final decision has not been reached on all aspects of the problem.
