HC Deb 25 November 1937 vol 329 cc1396-7
48. Mr. Whiteley

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education what resolutions he has received from education authorities urging that steps should be taken to reduce the size of classes in infant and junior schools to 30; and what action he proposes to take?

Mr. Lindsay

Resolutions generally to the effect described in the question have been received by the Board from five local education authorities. As regards the last part of the question, I would refer. the hon. Member to the answer which I gave on the 15th instant to the hon. Member for Normanton (Mr. T. Smith).

Mr. Sexton

Is the Minister aware that all experts in education agree that the younger the child the smaller should be the number in the class?
