HC Deb 23 November 1937 vol 329 c1034
47. Mr. Day

asked the Prime Minister whether he will give particulars of what further legislation the Government propose to introduce before the House rises for the Christmas Adjournment with a view to the modification of unemployment?

The Prime Minister

No addition is contemplated at present to the legislative programme announced at the opening of the Session. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour is to-day presenting a Bill proposing certain modifications and extensions of the Unemployment Insurance scheme.

Mr. Day

Am I to understand from that reply that the Prime Minister does not intend to lay before the House any plan for dealing with this question before the Christmas Adjournment?
