asked the Secretary for Mines the number of coal mines working and the number of persons therein employed in South-West Durham in the years 1907, 1917, and 1937, respectively?

In the year 1907 there were 102 coal mines at work in South-West Durham, employing 36,900 persons; in 1917, 91 mines, employing 33,30o persons; and in 1937, 79 mines. employing 22,400 persons.
