HC Deb 22 November 1937 vol 329 c847
50. Mr. Anderson

asked the Postmaster-General why the contractor engaged upon Post Office work between Bottle and Millom, Cumberland, failed to comply with the wage agreement; and whether any previous complaints have been made against this firm of contractors?

Major Tryon

The failure is stated to have been due to misunderstanding, and to have occurred on one Sunday only. No previous complaints have come under notice.

Mr. Anderson

Has the Postmaster-General any check on orders which are given from time to time?

Major Tryon

If a complaint is made, immediate investigation takes place. In this case no complaint was made.

Mr. Anderson

Is there any system for finding out if there is any irregularity?
