HC Deb 15 November 1937 vol 329 cc30-1
55. Mr. Noel-Baker

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what proportion of the Royal Air Force machines consists of fighting aircraft, night bombers, and day bombers, respectively?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

I regret that it is not in the public interest to state the number of machines. As regards squadrons, there are at present in the Metropolitan Air Force 123 squadrons, of which 70 are bombers, 30 fighters, and the remainder other types. Overseas. of 26 squadrons, there are 15 bombers, no fighters, and the remainder are of other types. The training of all bomber squadrons includes both day and night flying.
