HC Deb 15 November 1937 vol 329 c24
42. Mr. Liddall

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether, in view of the disturbance during the hot weather caused by the loud speaker in the northwest corner of the Queen Mary Garden, Regent's Park, he will take steps to abate this loud-speaker nuisance next summer so that the general public may enjoy the gardens in peace and quiet?

The First Commissioner of Works (Sir Philip Sassoon)

The amplifier to which my hon. Friend refers is that used in connection with the open-air theatre. It is necessary for the convenience of the audience, but I will endeavour to see that it is so modulated as not to be a nuisance to other users of the gardens.
