HC Deb 02 November 1937 vol 328 c726
72. Mr. Kelly

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of civilians employed in Gibraltar by the War Department in September, 1936, and September, 1937, respectively?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

Excluding persons employed on fluctuating work, such as unloading vessels and works services, the approximate numbers employed in September, 1936, and September, 1937, were 180 and 190 respectively.

Mr. Kelly

Have any of those to leave by the gate of Gibraltar at night in order to sleep on Spanish territory?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

The hon. Gentleman has asked me for a figure. If he wants official information, perhaps he will put down a question, and I will willingly answer it.
